Brett Ranon Nachman, Ph.D.

Welcome to my portfolio website!

I am an Assistant Professor of Adult and Lifelong Learning at the University of Arkansas. My research primarily centers on issues related to: autism and disability in higher education; community college access, equity and transfer; and teaching and learning. I have accrued nearly $600,000 in national grant funding, including the Spencer Foundation Large Research Grant (approx $500,000), to support my scholarship on autistic college student success.

To date I have published (or had accepted for publication) 23 peer-reviewed journal articles in leading outlets, including Journal of College Student Development, The Review of Higher Education, Community College Review, College Student Affairs Journal, and Journal of Autism and Developmental Disabilities.

Here I showcase examples of my academic scholarship, teaching philosophy and artifacts associated with my teaching experiences, and other resources that I have developed. My personal and professional experiences are also on display to lend greater context to who I am and what I value, as both a human and scholar.

Feel free to reach out to me at bnachman@uark.edu if you have any questions, would like to connect with me, or are interested in having me as a presenter in your class or at your college.

Investing myself in various research endeavors related to community college students, autism and disabilities, LGBTQ+ students and inclusive teaching practices drive my research.

From spearheading my own classes to offering guest lectures, I relish in infusing engagement, entertainment and enlightenment in my teaching.

Service encompasses a major pillar of my purpose as a scholar; through engaging in various leadership efforts, I have worked to provide significant learning opportunities to students and community members.

I have been fortunate to be recognized for my leadership roles, as well as my professional and academic experiences.

My research and leadership have been noted in various educational media outlets.
